What Fishing Teaches Kids About Life

When my son was around eight years old he became interested in fishing. So the good mom that I am, I would take him fishing. Well I eventually started to love the sport myself. Fishing can teach a child so much about life. The biggest lesson learned from fishing is patience. Ya gotta be really patient to sit around there hours on end to catch a fish. The next lesson it teaches is that some things are easier to come by than others. Those little pan fish are much easier to catch than the big salmon etc. Also fishing teaches a child how to listen..By listening to others who have mastered fishing, they are able to learn. In life you learn by listening to others. Fishing can also teach someone how to handle disappointment. There are many times you go out there and no matter how hard you try..you just can't/don't catch that fish. It can be really disappointing after you were so excited to go there.

And above all of those things that fishing teaches ..it has taught me as a parent how important it is to spend quality time with your children.

Until next time,
Tas

  1. Very interesting blog sweetheart...I love how you have passed on your own interest in fishing to your son by involving him with your fishing trips..and now he has taken up the same leisure activity...I agree Tas about spending quality time with your children..because you never know what is around the corner...
